Photo Challenge – Monster

The prompt for this week’s challenge is MONSTER, and it was an easy one for me. Last year my next door neighbors had a fabulous Halloween tree, which I shared on a Sunday Sevens post.

Here again is the original photo (look carefully, these skeletons are cleverly made from milk cartons) and the header photo was taken a couple of nights ago. Happy Halloween everyone!

Also included is my little Haiku, which has nothing to do with Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge as I’ve completely ignored this week’s prompts (quick and race).

Four Very Dangerous Words

“Did You Miss Me?”

An answer might be, “oh yes, of course!” or the scary one, “oh, were you away?”

My blogging (and sewing) activities have been severely neglected over the last few months, due to some of life’s little circumstances, and some very marvelous travels. The circumstances are at once wonderful and challenging, and the travels have been varied and filled with family love and celebrations.

Slowly but slowly, I’m getting back on the beam, and possible posts are in the works:

Our trip to Wales – during which time, of course, I met up with the fabulous Ali of THIMBERLINA,

Our trip to California – my beautiful daughter became a wife; one week later my sister did the same; hubby and I took a little trip within a trip. Such a whirlwind!

Our latest (and unexpected) construction project.

Jumping back into the 52-Week Photo Challenge and Sunday Sevens.

And projects! Holidays are coming right up, and I must be back at my sewing machine in short order!

But first, you’ve all been carrying on without me, so I’ve lots of catching up to do with all of your adventures.

See you in a few……

Photo Challenge – Button

Button, button, who’s got the button?

This week’s Photo Challenge is BUTTON. Like many others, I am rather obsessed with buttons, especially those of the vintage variety. And more specifically, the vintage buttons from my mother’s collection.

However, lately I have acquired a different button obsession. Our old house constantly requires attention. One of the continual little projects has been updating the shabby (or  modernized) button light switches. We’ve acquired quite the variety of light switch covers. Such as….

switches with 2 buttons,

6-button switches,

and an especially interesting one (albeit a blurry photo) with 2 buttons and a twisty knob!

Photo Challenge – Street

The topic of this week’s photo challenge is STREET. Going back through my photos to find an appropriate STREET (and one I’ve not already posted), produced some shots from our move from the West to the East Coast. We spent a night in Indiana, home to the University of Notre Dame. A more beautiful campus I cannot imagine.

Way too many photos to choose from, hope you enjoyed these few memories with me.

Photo Challenge – Strength

The prompt from this week’s Photo Challenge is STRENGTH.

As children, our parents are our strength. They love, support, and guide us through all of our trials and tribulations. The day may come however, when we must be their strength. Even though she is tiny and frail, my little mother soldiers on. As you can  see, there is quite an incline ahead, and mama is anxious to get to the top of it. This picture was taken several months ago and she’s had a debilitating fall since then. After weekly physical therapy sessions, she has decided today is the day to walk again toward that hill, in preparation for walking in the hills of Wales one more time next month!
