Photo Challenge – Check

The prompt for this week’s Photo Challenge is CHECK. Oh, this one would be easy! I knew immediately what CHECK to use – my green and red checked Christmas tablecloth. It’s packed away with other Christmas decorations in the attic, and as I trudged upstairs to retrieve it, I came upon….

A tiled entry

A little throw rug

A fabric scrap

A window pane check

A trio of wooden trivets

AndIMG_7061 my very favorite, this charming cutting board, made by a good friend.

Take a peek around your home, I’ll just bet you’ll find CHECKS aplenty, hiding in plain sight.

  3. I absolutely love this post Jen! You found so many great checks. The thing I like most about these challenges is that it encourages me to look at the world around me in a different way – noticing new things and seeing old things differently – fantastic! If I was into given awards yours would definitely get the GOLD STAR!!!!

    • I am blushing now Sandra, thank you! This challenge had an interesting snowball effect….the checks just kept presenting themselves. 😀 (and if I had a GOLD STAR I’d hang it in my sewing room for inspiration – or more likely I just need a swift kick in the …..) Your weekly challenge has become such an eye-opening, enjoyable quest. Still have to try the haiku, if that doesn’t stretch my poor brain till it snaps.

  4. Funny how what seems easy at the start has a way of sneaking up on us with complications! I’ve been busy with my own little Haiku too.
Wonder if you have ever walked into a Christmas gathering only to find you are wearing the same check ‘shawl’ as the table is wearing?

    • Thanks, Kate. The challenges really are fun (and challenging)! The bread board is such a treasure! My friend (since the 60s) builds magnificent hardwood floors, and these are made from scraps. I chose the woods and a rough pattern, he did the rest.
