After some sporadic posting lately, my Sunday Sevens post is ready early. So early, in fact, that it was nearly titled Saturday Sevens, but that seemed a teeny bit boastful, don’t you think? If you’d like to know more about Sunday Sevens, pop over to Natalie’s blog, Threads and Bobbins, and check it out. It’s fun, easy, and anyone can join in.
Street Work
The City worked on our street for over a month to relocate the gas meters from the basements to new outdoor locations. Our tiny fence is countersunk so deep they couldn’t drill next to it to install the line; they had to go under the sidewalk instead. Digging up the sidewalk was messy, but they poured a brand new one.
A day to dry, and our beautiful new sidewalk will be ready!
Around the Neighborhood
Our city has many, many interesting sculptures. This one took my fancy.
April showers brought May flowersWe have tulips
So many colors
These are my favorite. Aren’t they spectacular?
Mother’s Day
Took mama out for dinner at a little bistro. We each had a fresh and fabulous salad, and took home this exquisite little pizza for tomorrow night. Yum!
A little outing
Just follow the signs to the alpacas….
This is Jenny and she’s just had her very first haircut. She was a patient client, with a patient, gentle shearer. Isn’t she pretty?
This wool was from the first of 14 alpaca shorn; it is soft as a cloud. Stuff of dreams.
Recipes
Just added a few shreds of Romano cheese, a sprinkle of fresh parsley, and voila! A meal in minutes. Absolutely delicious!
They are not afraid
Out for a drive to a nearby park, we encountered a group of deer (poorly photographed). They watched as we slowed to a stop, and sauntered on up to greet us! Perhaps they are accustomed to receiving treats from travelers.
New fabric
And a new tunic is in the works.
That’s all folks! Hope you all have a most wonderful week.
Lovely pictures – I especially like the alpaca.

Thank you! We arrived mid-shear so I didn’t have a “before” picture of that cutie.

That poor cat’s expression is great, isn’t it? And the salad was as good as it looks.

Wow you live on a very beautiful street. I’m pleased to see the work men didn’t make a mess of your lovely fence 🙂

Thank you! The trees are so gorgeous in the spring. The workers will be on the street for a while still, and they have been so diligent to protect the landscapes – they will finish up with seeding all the bare spots.

Crikey they do a good job in your area don’t they?! It’s lovely to see 🙂

They do! And we are so lucky.

I was looking at fabric very much like that yesterday! Look forward to seeing what you do with it.

It’s so pretty, isn’t it? You should get some, it’s nice and soft. I’m hoping to finish this one a bit more swiftly than usual. 😉

I do love tulips! But that little alpaca was just adorable. She didn’t much appreciate her new hairdo, though.

Did you get the opportunity to buy some alpaca wool? It looks so soft. I know I’ve said it before, but I love the way all the houses over there seem to have a front verandah. Great sculpture of the cat and bird – more birds on the tunic too, I see.

We didn’t buy any wool, mom was tired, but plan to go back. I can’t imagine anything softer! I love the front porches, too…..they just look so old fashioned and homey. I have one more piece of bird fabric, too. Perhaps some sort of intervention is in order. 😀

Lovely photos, Jen – thank you! What an interesting neighbourhood, and it’s appreciated by so many (including those workers). Do like your bird fabric & am wondering where you found it – Joann’s? My quilting friend here is always good for a trip to Joann’s, particularly if she knows there might be bird fabrics
Did yo find what you were looking for at B&N? Found that blogger you mentioned & had fun reading through some of it. Nice one to know – thank you!
Now, about some alpaca for you . . . ! ! ! 😎

I love the bird fabric! Fingers crossed that it isn’t too difficult to work with, it’s quite light and sheer. It’s from Joann’s and was 40% off. B&N postponed until tomorrow morning (we have only short bits of time to spend “out and about”). Oh, you mean that camel colored alpaca wool? I found the sample I brought home. It’s gray! haha what a doofus. Don’t think the farm sells cloth, but oh that yarn is heavenly.

Actually, was thinking of both… What about calling Mood to ask what other colours? Or get the gray and put in a wild lining! It would look grand with your bird tunic underneath. 😉

I’ve always been a fan of gray, so I’ll probably keep it. And yes, it will be smashing with my bird tunic … and a smashing lining! 🙂

Ooooh that stew sounds delish! One I may have to try I think 🙂 Funnily enough, I visited an Alpaca shop last week…I couldn’t get enough of how soft everything was! How exciting getting a new sidewalk 😀

Gosh, I’d thought I’d have caught up but I’m still finding fabulous photos on your posts! The bald alpaca looks very cute, hope it’s warm enough for it to go without a coat! 😃

Aww, thanks Ali! The alpacas were probably a bit shivery the next day, as it was quite cold!
