Hi everyone, it’s time for this week’s Sunday Sevens, a little ode to randomness, those bits that don’t merit a whole post. For info about Sunday Sevens, please pop in to see the creator, Natalie, over at Threads & Bobbins. There are no real rules, just sharing of seven(ish) pictures.
So here we go with today’s Sunday wrap up.
First of all, the very best of all things is happening. My sister arrived on Wednesday with our 89-year-old mother! Sis has gone home, but mom will be here for 3 full weeks! In light of this, my blogging might be extra light, but I do have some fun pics to share. This week most of the photos were taken on a day of wine tasting at the Finger Lakes. I didn’t even know these wineries existed! The skies were overcast but no rain, the leaves are turning, so much greenery…all in all, fabulous!
Wine Tasting
This was a bustling place, some good wines, and a very nice concierge who directed us to Glenora Winery, 10 miles down the road which offers a good restaurant.
This was the most fabulous place! Overlooking Seneca Lake, magnificent views of the color show put on by all the foliage. We didn’t go to the wine tasting room, just the restaurant where we indulged in pumpkin soup and a sandwich. Oh yes, and an incredibly decadent carrot cake with caramel and “Parisian” ice cream. Pure joy.
This festive tree is in the lobby. Clever, don’t you think?
The final stop was a very small winery on the opposite side of the lake. Wine wasn’t special, but the views were!
A Pretty Mistake
We had a package delivered to our doorstep. It was addressed to the previous owner. We called the delivery service, and they promised to contact the sender, and said “keep the flowers”. Yes, thank you.
Keeping the Walks Going
We set off to pick up a newspaper just around the corner, but….
do we dare pass this skeleton-laden tree? We did! Two days in a row we walked to the market and picked up the newspaper. Unscathed. Such troopers.
Have a lovely week everyone!
Those skeletons in the tree are amazing! I might try and make some; they look like they are made from milk cartons?! Flowers are beautiful, what a wonderful mid-week pick-me-up 🙂 Hope you’re having fun with your mum!

I thought they were so cute! hmmm, don’t know how they’re made, looks like they may even be reflective at night. The roses continue to open and are so lovely. And thank you! We are having a fabulous time! 🙂

I have one of those bottle dryers – they are very French – and I was using it as décor on our terrace but my husband isn’t keen so it has been relegated to a more hidden corner of the terrace and is home to various garden implements hanging off it!
My Mum is arriving tomorrow night for one week and, although she is (just) a few years younger than your Mum, it sounds like yours is more sprightly. Mine is a terror for taking out for meals as she’s so fussy and she can’t walk that far any more. As we are in France she is deeply suspicious of eating out as she suspects everything of containing garlic or worse. Little does she know that almost everything we cook for her has garlic in it anyway – sshhh! 😉

Oh, I’d love to see your bottle dryer! Had no idea that’s what it was – it was all lit up like a Christmas tree! I looked up the French bottle dryer and there it was! Amazing. You must post a picture of yours with the dangling implements.
My mom is pretty sprightly … she tires easily though, and does use a walker, but only on our neighborhood walks. Have fun with your mum, too, and she will never hear from me the truth about the dreaded garlic! (Dare I say “mum’s the word”?)

The tree (bottle dryer I now know) was so bright and festive! Wonder if they change the light colors according to the season? Yes, I’m enjoying those beautiful roses. Felt sorry for the real recipient, though, they were apparently a birthday gift.

Thank you, it was such fun! My sis is quite the wine expert, so I learned quite a lot. The scenery was amazing, and the four of us in the car (sis, mom, me, hubby aka driver) were a rollicking bunch of loons. I need to find out more about those skeletons!

Nice skeletons. And I love the way you all celebrate spooky things at this time of year. Enjoy your Mum – 89 is a great achievement!!
